Purpose
As the battlefield 4 emblem editor is quite frustrating to utilize, importing SVG's could exist dainty. Something similar was bachelor for battlefield three plutoon emblems I think.
How to apply
Create an 320x320 image in your favorite vector editor (read: illustrator, or it has not been tested). You may just utilize the tools line, ellipsis, and squares. Once your'eastward happy with the result, save as SVG. Open the svg in a text editor, copy the contents, paste in the box below, and and push "convert". Cheque for errors in the letters box. If all is well, copy the code from results and continue as usual to add the emblem in the bf4 editor. Instructions on how to continue from here on exists in several places, endeavour google, or check out this site which provides instructions if you click on an emblem (no affiliation). Basically yous need to launch the js code from the result window on the editor somehow.
Limitations
The current version is very uncomplicated and but supports lines, ellipses and rectangles. None of the other objects that can exist used in the online battlefield iv editor tin be used, if you want to use them y'all volition have to add them in the online editor once the svg is imported.
You lot tin can utilise opacity and colors will piece of work besides. Line stroke on ellipses and rectangles volition be ignored simply stroke is how you volition make up one's mind the thickness of a line. You lot may rotate and scale and group object merely you may non change the pivot of an object or do any free-hand handle transformation or 3d-transformation. Remember that the output is but ane of the stroke, circle or square objects in the bf4 editor, and they can simply be scaled or rotated.
The current version only support the "matrix" transformation to interpret rotation. Basically, when saving to SVG from illustrator, this is what volition be used.
Finally, the editor itself only supports 40 objects, then you are limited to this as well.
Future development
The possible time to come developments for this project could adress a few of the limitations above. Heres a few thoughts (some which have already been concluded every bit bad ideas, kept for reference):
-
importing the svg from battlelog. It then instantly becomes a path element, which means I cannot recognize it when it comes back out unless it hasn't been modified at all - which is totally useless.
-
Importing a shape as a rendering (png or like). This could exist feasable but it ways that somehow a conversion must be made and once information technology has been made the user cannot modify the colour, equally it's an image object. I was thinking of implementing this at to the lowest degree for the role when the paradigm is done one because it's actually easy, just add a few lines to my existing code only in the end kind of tiresome with the color limitation, youre meliorate of with the online editor here in my opinion. but then I need to add something a bit more than complicated, unless the user should be forced to a) download the svg from battlelog b) alter to the color you want c) render to png d) importing to your image. Information technology's but likewise many steps and I could not do this in pure javascript so I would have to brand users install some kind of additional converter to do this.

Path support. IMplementation would be: Take a path, try to recognize some of it's properties and map the bachelor bf shapes unto it. for instance, a curved path could be represented past a bent arrow somehow. It would be fun to practice just because the lawmaking would be, with my measures, extremely complex and close to artificial intelligence. I like a challenge, merely I am agape that I would be mode over my head with this one. And so again, cypher is impossible.
-
Ascii-style: do the same affair an ascii converter does: take an existing image and replace it with a resembling ascii representation. But instead of the alphabet, it would be the bf4 shapes. Come to remember of it, information technology's kind of the aforementioned thing as the previous suggestion, simply we would work with the picture as a whole instead of individual paths. It might be more realistic. Matter is, as nosotros only accept xx/40 objects to work with, I am guessing anything we can spit out will exist kind of ugly. As yous might know, an image -> ascii converter seldomly generates something pretty unless the output resolution is really loftier (many messages) or input resolution is very low.
